so here i go again....Enbridge! The most controversial name I know of in BC. BC Chiefs have made it abundantly clear that there will be no pipeline as far as they are concerned. and I am with them 100%. Enough! Enough with running hog wild over traditional territories yet again. What does it stop?? this pipeline crap affects everyone and all the being both sentient and non sentient for many hundreds of kilometres ....I mean what the hell? Yes 'hell' is the correct word here. I wondered went something would come up that would be a strong enough issue for me to take part in a blockade and this is it..Creator willing I count myself in this time.
Pretender to the Throne (toilet) Christie Clark is bargaining for a bigger piece of the pie. Isn't she special. She wants BC to sell itself for more money...sorta like a Higher Class hooker....fee for services you know.    Or does she think First Nations and ourselves are so stupid that we would fall for that one? Of course if Enbridge backs out then she can claim victory for the people of British Columbia  and gather a couple more votes...NOT this puppy. I am sick of these politicians even thinking of this kind of crap and this is exactly the kind of issue that can become common ground for aboriginal and non-aboriginal people to get together and fight this kind of BS. I encourage non-aboriginals to get together, get to know our aboriginal neighbours. get to know their cultures and ways of being. This is a time to set aside differences and while fighting a common cause to begin to heal together.
Residential Sshools affected all of us...they separated us effectively and brought shame to all Canadians via our historical heritage. That means we Canadians living right now have a duty to begin a healing for ourselves as non-aboriginal Canadians as well. We have become numb and are in denial. Painful as it is we need to face the reality that those who came before us committed horrific acts including genocide and cultural genocide....Wake up! It's right there in the history books!

Truth Be Told

Eagle Warrior Woman has to do with wise and spiritual warriors. It is a name I acquired a long time ago at a workshop involving leadership and becoming who we truly are....It's taken me a long journey to arrive at an inner place where I can own this name.
So on the 21st of July 2012 number of we no-aboriginal women experienced a Woman's Pipe Ceremony. Although it wasn't just another experience was it?
For me I had an intention of bringing women from many backgrounds, faiths and no-faith coming together to share in the deep spiritual ways of a wholly different culture than our own. My deepest hope is to bring about healing and neighbourly friendships with aboriginal peoples anywhere however particularly in Canada and more specifically right here where we live...often as not-so-friendly neighbours. This represents only a part of the legacy of the Aboriginal Residential School  System here in Canada. We are those left with the responsibility of bringing about healing especially within ourselves. Healing begins with awareness and then perhaps a simple sitting down together like people do who don't really know each well. It's easy. It starts with "Hello". Then possibilities become endless!

The ceremony was held within the sanctuary of Comox United Church: a historical 'first' for that
community. As it turned out we were 18 non-aboriginal women. Our guests were two aboriginal women. Sheila is a counsellor and the pipe carrier, Ilene, another counsellor were both amazed that such a ceremony would ever be allowed in the sanctuary of any Christian Church. Perhaps this was a healing for them as well!

I had worked in one of 'those' schools a long time ago. In 1971 I witnessed some terrible things at Kuper Island Residential School. I tried to report what I saw but was told to pack up my stuff and go.....it was an attempt to fire me. I was not believed. Now there's no sense getting into all the details which brings up a lot of pain. Suffice it to say that it was 30 years before I received a supoena to appear before the Supreme Court and give testimony. I was later diagnosed with serious Psychological stuff and went through several years of counselling. i was blessed to have wonderful helpers: aboriginal elders and friends played the largest role over the years; also some nuns and having had an aboriginal roommate when a boarding school student at St. Ann's Academy in Victoria BC. It is not a coincidence that Kuper Island was her home. I believe that there is a thread that connects us through people and the occurrences in our lives....we only need look for it and there we find out who we really are.
